FOOTBALL NEWS.! Gov Ganduje Sacks Okey Emordi As Coach Of Kano Pillars.
Coach Okey Emordi has been sacked from his post as the Head Coach of Kano Pillars Football Club. The Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje sacked the technical adviser to the team along the head coach. A statement released to the media and signed by Baba Aliyu Dantiye on Monday, July 20, 2015, confirmed the sack: “By this
statement both the General Manager and the Technical Adviser have also been relieved of appointments.” Sacked Kano Pillars, Okey Emordi The statement added
that the government thanked the board and management for the services they rendered to the club. However, the governor approved a board and Management for the club in the persons of; Alhaji Kabiru Baita as Chairman of the club while the following are members: Alhaji Abba Dambazau, Alhaji Naziru Aminu Wapa, Alhaji Garba Mohammed (Nawamba) and Alhaji Hassan Abdullahi Garo while Representative of Kano State Sports Council will serve as Secretary. The
state is yet to name a new Coach for the club. Kano Pillars are the defending champion of the Nigerian Premier
League. They are also a four-time
consecutive winner of the league title. Some have blamed the club lacklustre run in the on-going Nigeria Premier League on injuries to key players. Okey Emordi was fired as Kano Pillars coach after his side played a 3-3 draw against Lobi Stars in Makurdi. The reigning league champions gave up a three-goal lead to let the hosts snatch a point in the keenly contested affair at the Aper Aku Stadium. Emordi, the former Enyimba boss replaced Baba Ganaru at the helm of the Pyramid Boys following his exit in
January 2014 – and under his care, the team were sent packing in the preliminary stage of the CAF Champions League. Pillars are ninth on the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) log with 27 points from 19 games with eight victory and eight defeats.
