Fed Cup: Lobi, Akwa Utd Through, Angels Out

Nigeria Professional Football League sides Lobi Stars and Akwa
United have progressed to the semi-finals of the Federation Cup
following their victories on Wednesday, but defending champions of
the women’s title, Rivers Angels, failed to progress.
Lobi Stars and Akwa United had tough times with their non-league
opponents but both scaled through, while Enugu Rangers and
Nasarawa United defeated fellow NPFL sides, El Kanemi Warriors
and IfeanyiUbah, to progress.
Lobi defeated BJ Foundation >>2-1; Akwa defeated Niger Tornadoes
Feeders >>4-3 on penalties after a >>2-2 draw in regulation time.
Rangers defeated El Kanemi >>3-0 and Nasarawa beat IfeanyiUbah
>>1-0.
In the women’s quarterfinals, Rivers Angels lost >>2-1 to Confluence
Queens through goals from Aluko Mariam and Ginika Ikeh after
Cecilia Nku had put the defending champions ahead.
Nasarawa Amazons defeated Osun Babes >>3-1 while Sunshine
Queens beat FC Robo >>2-0 and Edo Queens lost >>2-0 to Bayelsa
Queens.
Meanwhile, all the eight centres of the Federation Cup quarterfinal
matches had the picture of late Nigeria international, Samuel
Okwaraji as said by the Nigeria Football Federation.
