Supreme Court Judgement Udom Emmanuel Vs Umana Umana Feb 3rd 2016 – Live Updates

There was anxiety yesterday in the political camps of the All
Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP) in Akwa Ibom State ahead of Today’s Supreme Court
verdict on the governorship election appeal between Governor
Udom Emmanuel of the PDP and Umana Okon Umana of the
APC. – 2/3/2016
The Supreme Court fixed Today for hearing in the appeal. Based
on the current trend with appeal cases in other states, the apex
court is expected to deliver judgement on the same day.
Already, members of both parties have taken to the social
media to express diverse opinions on what the outcome
of the verdict could be.
Those in the PDP are hoping that the verdict would not be
different from what the Supreme Court justices delivered in the
case between Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and APC’s
Dakuku Peterside, which upheld Wike’s election.
But those in APC hoped Umana would defeat Emmanuel, based
on the facts and evidence before the court.
It was learnt that the state’s Local Government and Chieftaincy
Commissioner had started mobilising former political office
holders ahead of the possible outcome of the verdict.
Some text messages forwarded to the former chairmen was
obtained by our reporter. One of them reads: “Chair, pls attend an
urgent meeting with the Commissioner for Local Government,
Victor Antai, as follows: Date February 1, 2016; Time – 1pm; Venue:
Ministry of Local Government, Uyo. Please, come with all former
caretaker/transition chairmen in your local government who are
still members of the PDP. Thanks.”
The agenda of the meeting, it was learnt, would dwell on the
Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal pending before the
Supreme Court, whose verdict would be delivered Today.

What is your expectation and what do you
pray for today concerning the case of our
No.1 friend/Principal, mr Umana Okon
Umana Vs Udom Emmanuel at the
Supreme Court?
To me, my faith has increased, my
expectation is high. So I can see light at the
end of the tunnel, I can hear the noise of
jubilation and feel a sound of VICTORY.
Thank you Father for the VICTORY you will give Umana Okon
Umana/ APC at the Supreme Court. – Ifiok Isaac
SUPREME COURT JUDGEMENT; This cant go beyond
expectation;Udom Gabriel Emmanuel had already won the
election. Few polling units in 18 Local Govts wouldn’t have made
any difference in any further elections. A re-run isnt just possible
at this time. Our distinguished and incorruptible judges would
deliver the right judgement. Udom is a lucky man. Eket senatorial
district has no reason to fail in producing the governor. Congrats
our dear governor for your victory today. – Victor Udiong

Supreme Court Confirms Ruling On A’ibom Guber Polls
Today
…how Umana’s Intense Lobby For Postponement Failed
Desperate attempts by the governorship candidate of the All
Progressives Congress (APC), Akwa Ibom State Obong Umana
Umana in mounting pressure for the postponement of the
supreme Court ruling on his case with Governor Udom
Emmanuel of the PDP, has hit a dead end.
Global Pilot can authoritatively confirm that not only will the briefs
be admitted today at the apex court, but ruling will also be
delivered.
Our investigations reveal that Umana surreptitiously approached
high profile officials of the APC in Abuja, Lagos and was also seen
in Kaduna in the last one week, where he is said to have pleaded
with to use their positions and influence to pressurise on the
supreme court to move the judgement on the election petition
matter to a further date.
The ‘extra’ time was to afford opportunity for more people to
approach and mount pressure on the supreme Court egg heads
to help concede Akwa ibom to APC having failed to capture any of
the other oil-rich south south states.
His contention was that if the supreme court is allowed to go
ahead on February 3, 2016 for hearing in the matter, that the
supreme court could follow its precedent in the Rivers state case
by giving it’s ruling on the same day of the hearing, and not
giving room for their lordships to be properly ‘briefed’ by the
powers that be.
Global Post understands that Umana had battled all through the
week to secure the assurances of the supreme court justices that
the case will tilt in the APC’s favour to no avail.
Umana had been directed to accompany a former senator and
presidential aide Ita Enang to go through the Director General,
Department of State Security Service (DSS), Lawal Musa Daura to
put pressure on the CJN to defer judgement on the election matter
to a future date due to a flimsy reason of national security
concerns.
It was not clear if they were able to meet the no-nonsense CJN,
however a highly placed source at the apex court has confirmed
that top APC goons who sought to foolishly misguided the court
had been rebuffed and the hearing of the case will still come up
today as scheduled.
“If they are asking us to shift the ruling because of insecurity, are
they saying that Yobe that people are dropping bombs everyday
is safer than Akwa Ibom? My brother our oga has no time for
those corrupt politicians and if they push him further, he won’t
hesitate to expose all of them,” the source added.
All the cases so-far decided has been in favour of the incumbent
governors as the apex court has dismissed the use of card
readers as the only means of accreditation of voters before an
election.
Mr Umana is urging the court to set aside the election of Mr
UdomEmmanuel on the basis of failure to rely on card readers
solely for the accreditation of voters. – Micheal Joseph Okon
I stand against every demonic force contrary to the declaration
of Governor Udom Emmanuel retaining his seat as Akwa Ibom
State Governor AND I that the judgement of the supreme Court
today shall to his favour in Jesus name. – Ben Unyime-Jornsen

Victory is Assured for Governor Udom Emmanuel
Anyhow the judgement goes today, it will favour the ruling party
(PDP). If its upholding the election it favours PDP, if its a re-run it
still favours PDP. Apc never won the election and as such their
chances of winning it again in case of a rerun is very slim if not
zero.
The Decision of the supreme Court can take 3 dimensions, either
way, PDP stands a better chance.
1. The court may uphold Udoms Election
2. The supreme Court may throw away the decision of the appeal
court and uphold the decision of the tribunal for election to be re-
conducted in 18 local government areas.
3. The supreme Court may affirm the decision of the appeal court
and order for a fresh election in the whole state. Whichever way it
goes, Godswill will be done.
Victory is sure for PDP and Udom Emmanuel.
We are solidly behind The PDP and Governor Udom Emmanuel. –
