The Nigerian army recorded an important
victory in the fight against terrorism as they
killed a wanted Boko Haram leader yesterday,
March 10.

According to Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman,
who is the acting director of army public
relations, the unnamed terrorist was killed on
March 10 after troops of 7 multinational joint
task force brigade Quick Response Group
(QRG) stationed in Baga and 118 task force
battalion staged an ambush along Daban
Masara axis.

The route was a well-known path used by
terrorists to convey logistics. The terrorist
was one of the leaders of the insurgency
group and was number 95 on the first
Nigerian army wanted list of 100 Boko Haram
terrorist leaders. He was mortally wounded
during an exchange of fire between soldiers
and the terrorists.
Other members of his team escaped with
gunshot wounds while the leader later died of
his wounds while receiving treatment at the
military base.

Recovered from the terrorists were 7 Jerri cans of 30 litres containing 210 liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), motorcycles
and foodstuffs. Firearms and ammunition
were also recovered.
Meanwhile, contrary to the position held by
the government that no region of the country
is being controlled by Boko Haram, a top US
general, David Rodriguez has claimed that
some parts of the country are still under the
control of the insurgency.
