The Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and
Chieftaincy Affairs, Rt Hon Victor Antai has stated that he is not
ready to contest any governorship elections against Governor
Mr Antai made this known yesterday when he hosted a cross
section of political stakeholders and PDP executives of Mbo
extraction at his residence.
“I don’t want to contest any governorship election against Udom
Emmanuel, so those who are propagating my governorship,
please I am not interested. Udom Emmanuel is the Governor of
Akwa Ibom State and I am not ready to contest against my
Governor and Boss”.
He stressed that the divine mandate given by entire Akwa Ibom
people to Governor Udom Emmanuel will last for 8 years, as his
predecessors did 8years each and warned those who see his rise
political career as a threat and want to bring him down to stop
“I want to make it clear, for those of you who see me as a threat
and that the only way to bring me down is through blackmail,
Udom Emmanuel is the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong
Victor Attah did 8years, Sen. Godswill Akpabio did 8 years,
therefore the divine mandate is for 8 years”.
He noted that the meeting was not a political campaign but to
thanked them for the support they gave to the Governor and PDP
during the last general elections and urged them not loose hope as
the Governor has the interest of Oro Nation at heart.
“I am here to thanked you and all Mbo indigenes for supporting
the Divine Mandate.
“Udom means well for the people of Mbo and the entire Oro
Continuing, the former council chairman maintained that “Oro will
produce a Governor at the right time.
When it is time for Oro Nation to produce a Governor, nobody
will struggle with Oro Nation, it will be given to us”.
He used the opportunity to donate cars to two loyal party faithfuls,
a man and a woman.
Also speaking, the member representing Mbo State Constituency
in the State Assembly, Hon Samuel Ufuo urged the stakeholders
to see the meeting as an avenue to reunite the entire Mbo
indigenes in order to chart a common course.
“Let us see this meeting as the reunification of Mbo. Elections has
come and gone, let us come together and build Mbo.
“Where there is peace, there is development.
“We will have the Ibaka Deep Seaport by God’s grace because it
was strategically situated in Mbo local government area”.
On his part, the State Deputy Chairman of PDP, Sir Michael Essang
sue for peace in the area in order to attract government presence.
Other stakeholders who spoke at the meeting solicited for the
people to continue in supporting Governor Udom Emmanuel for
him to fulfill his campaign promises of industrializing the state.
Present during the include: Rt Hon Nse Ekpenyong, member
representing Oro Federal Constituency in the Federal House of
Representatives, Deputy State Chairman of PDP, Sir Michael
Essang, former governorship aspirant in the state, Mr Chris
Abasieyo, Transition Chairman and members of the Transition
Committee of Mbo local government, PDP exco members and
political stakeholders from the area.
